Two brand new jazz suites composed by Dave Cottle, performed live with narrators Siân Lloyd and Griff Harries and the Dave Cottle Quintet. Intermission between the two pieces.
Richard Burton's A Christmas Story - On Christmas Eve, eight-year-old Richard is taken from the house by his Uncle ‘Mad Dan’ to sing with the miners round the bonfire, while his sister lies gravely ill upstairs. Or is she? Written by Burton and inspired by his hero Dylan Thomas, the story carries the audience back to Burton's own childhood Christmases in Port Talbot.
A Child's Christmas in Wales - Dylan Thomas's much-loved reminiscence of a boyhood Christmas, recorded by Thomas himself in 1952 and still one of his most popular works.
Performers:
Dave Cottle - piano & trumpet
Griff Harries & Siân Lloyd - narrators
Sarah Meek - vocals
Dan Newberry - sax
Alun Vaughan - bass
Paul Smith - drums
